Antipasto Recipe

Antipasto is customarily served before the meal in Italian families. It’s the perfect snacking platter to take the edge off and welcome hungry guests as they arrive.

That said, don’t let your perception of what antipasto IS, stop you from making it the main meal. In this traditional Italian dish, you have everything you need for a fun night of munching and picking to your heart’s delight.

If you’ve never made antipasto to serve at home for dinner, movie night, or just because, try it! You’ll save money on the premade meat and cheese platters they have at the store, and you can use your cook’s creativity to prepare and present something artful and delicious.

Antipasto Ingredients:

Assorted, smoked and cured meats such as salami, sopressata, dried sausage, prosciutto and capicola (hot ham)

  • Fresh, ripe tomatoes
  • Roasted red peppers
  • Green and black olives
  • Fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh fruit such as orange sections or Concord grapes
  • Assorted crackers and bread crusts
  • Warm bread fresh from the oven, sliced
  • Fresh basil

Instructions for an Antipasto Platter

Arrange all foods artfully on a serving tray. Charcuterie boards make an attractive presentation, so if you’re feeling creative you can craft one of these.

How to Make Stacked Antipasto

Each person is served a “stack” that includes one crisp romaine lettuce leaf, followed by the remaining listed ingredients. Spinkle fresh thyme and pour a bit of olive oil over the top of each stack for a festive presentation. Enjoy!
