Guacamole… creamy, savory, tangy and tasty, and you can make it home in minutes. Whipe up a great guac for your next get-together, or just have it with lunch or as a supper side with steaming bowls of chili. No taco Tuesday would be complete without guacamole. Here’s a quick how-to for those new to guacamole-making.
Guacamole Ingredients:
- Two (2) ripe avocados
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 Tbs fresh chopped cilantro
- 1 Tb fresh lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Guacamole Instructions:
Combine all ingredients, season with salt and pepper to taste. Avocado turns brown if exposed to the air, so try to make yours just a few minutes before you’re ready to serve.
Serves: 4-6
Variations on Guacamole
There’s no set recipe for guacamole. Other ingredients you can add, to taste, include:
- Fresh or jarred salsa
- lemon juice if you have no lime
- garlic powder or minced garlic
- jalapenos, chopped
- sofrito
- sour cream
- cayenne pepper
Don’t be afraid to play around with the recipe, adjusting flavors and adding a bit of this or that to your taste. You might even come up with your own, signature guacamole recipe to share with family and friends.
